Hi! I’m Paul. I like to make things & do fun stuff outside.
Even before I got into tech I was always interested in creating things. Whether that was a website for my personal training business back in 2013 or writing a guide on how I wrote my best man speech, the idea of making something from scratch has always felt exciting.
When I'm not writing code professionally, you'll find me building side projects which is generally something that I want to see in the world or solves some sort of problem that I'm interested in. That's where the magic lies in these online or coding projects for me, creating something that can help people in one way or another.
When I'm not working or building side projects, I'm most likely doing physical non screen stuff. My hobbies generally circulate around outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, surfing and climbing.
I mostly hike in Snowdonia, but when I'm lucky I go further afield to Europe and the French alps which is where I often go for ski trips. (I was a ski host for a ski season in La Tania back in 2009/10!). Surfing really depends on if there is any, but our closest good surf is Hells Mouth near Abersoch in Wales (Just on shore from Bear Grylls' Island).
I also really enjoy travelling. It's mostly Europe where I travel and more recently I've been doing that in my Van (Sir David). This year in September 2024 we travelled to Bavaria and the Dolomites in the van where we did a lot of hiking and ate a lot of Apfelstrudel! The highlight of the trip was definitely hiking and Via Ferrata-ing to the SatnerPassHutte - the scenery and the alpine hut were incredible.
